Peter Barman さんの本は、
我が家にどれくらいあるのだろうか。
たくさんあります(出版されたほとんど)。

本作は、"ARBAN"という ウェブサイト
の連載コラムとして、彼がピックアップした
作品 50 枚プラス 2 枚にまとめた物と、
巻末には The Big List として 700 枚を超えるタイトル、
2005 年 Rolling Stone 誌の All- time top 50に投票した
結果も添付されています。

私が 行った Live 会場で彼を
何十回とお目かけしており、
Peter Barman さんとは趣味趣向が
そこそこ同じなのだなと思っています。

"ARBAN"という ウェブサイトを見たことは
ありませんが、今回 52 枚中 21 枚が我に家にありました。

今回の 21 枚を iPhone に入れて
今、作品を聴き直して楽しんでいます。



私も現場にいました、
2004 年 5 月20日クラブクアトロ
での DereK Trucks Band の Live
のことを熱く書かれていたので、
この日の音源も引っ張り出して来て
聴いてみました。
( その後、私の知人である先輩は、
よく Peter さんに Derek の音源を差し上げていました)

今は、立ち読みが出来ない感じですが、
本屋でパラパラできるのであれば、
パラパラしてみて、
気に入ったら購入してみてください。

今回の Archive Series は、
First Reunion tour の音源で、
これまでに Chicago と L.A. の Show が
すでに音源としてリリースされています。

そして、今回が Philadelphia 公演です。
Show は 2 時間 50 分と短めですが、
とにかく、Openr の 11 分に渡る
Incident On 57th Street がとても印象的でした。

If I Should Fall Behind で
E Street Band のメンバーが
次々と歌い繋いでいくこの曲は、
いつ聴いても胸にジーンと響くのです。

The 22-song set begins in jaw-dropping fashion
with the long-awaited return of “Incident On 57th Street,”
last played in December 1980, and features the first Reunion tour
performances of “Point Blank,” “Sherry Darling”
“Streets of Philadelphia,” “Jungleland” and
“Raise Your Hand” to appear in the Archive Series.
Philadelphia ’99 also includes one of only five stagings

CD 1 枚だし音質もさほどよくないので、
これリリースするのという印象です。



ポスターは最初から Out Stock で
そのうち Sold Out で、何か腑に落ちないな。



Tee だけは安いので Combo で購入しておきました。

最近買った廉価盤 CD

ふとしたことから思い出した
CD を廉価盤で買っておこうと思い
購入し続けています。
普段は、ここでは紹介してきていませんが、たまには、
どんな物を買っているのかだけアップしておきましょう。

どうしてもデジタルでは買う気にならないし、
デジタル配信にも入る気はないので、
CD か LP を購入してしまいます。

デジタル音源を買うより安い CD 達です。
全て千円以下で購入できました。














それぞれの CD を購入した理由がありますが、
大したことではないので省略です。

どれも良いアルバムだと思います。

最近の空輸便 / Grateful Dead

今年は、夏遠征がキャンセルとなっため、
これを購入しちゃいました。



ちゃんとアルファー社の物を使ってくれています。



＄250、送料＄11。
これだけ海外の物を購入していますが、
未だに送料の定義が分からない。
この送料は安すすぎだと思うけど、
税関からの追徴もなかった。


番外編

Ben Davis の物を初めて購入。
これは日本ての代理店で購入。
送料無料、11,000円でした。

履き心地は悪くないし、
ポケットも深め、左側はコイン入れもあり便利。



俺の洗い方が不味かったのかもしれませんが、
1 回洗濯したら縮んだのでご用心。

以前に、YouTubeに投稿された映像から
これらの曲を MP3 にして楽しんでいることを
お伝えしたと思います。

これらの音源が official release されました。

私が持っている音源で収録されなかったのは、
I Never Leave Home と Timeless、
The World is My Home の 3 曲。

私は、足りないこの 3 曲を入れて
コンプリート盤にしました。

逆に今回収録されて映像を発見できていないのは、
When The Words Go Awayの 1 曲 。
( Trey 以外の一般人がアップしている映像はあります )

2 曲目のイントロは、マイケルジャクソンのあの曲、
15 曲目は、ニールヤングのあの曲を連想してしまいます(笑)

Note:
Lonely Trip was conceived and recorded in isolation
at my home studio (aka Rubber Jungle) during
the peak of New York City’s COVID-19 crisis, March - July, 2020.
When the lockdown began, I had by chance just completed
a weekend songwriting session with my friends and
longtime collaborators Tom Marshall and Scott Herman.
That session took place March 13th and 14th
just as the crisis was beginning in New York,
so the themes of fear and isolation were
already finding their way into those first songs.
By the time I arrived home, the situation in NYC had gotten much worse.

Knowing I wasn’t going to be leaving my apartment for a while,
I started working. It felt therapeutic to write.
I wanted to connect with our community in some way.
The unplanned nature of the recording meant
I didn’t have a lot of gear during this process.
I had an electric and an acoustic guitar, a small amp,
two microphones, some percussion,
and two keyboards, including an old Kurzweil
with very realistic drum sounds on it.
Everything was recorded through a Spire 8-track.
Lonely Trip is truly a raw, low-fi recording.

The process of writing songs became a reflective and healing experience.
Being able to share these songs instantly with
our community via Instagram felt equally profound.
It harkened back to my youth, before there was a Phish,
when I would write songs and home-record them specifically
with the intention of sharing them with
my circle of friends via cassette four-track recordings.

As the weeks went by, I worked on improving my recording techniques.
I called recording engineers including Ben Collette and
Vance Powell to get tips on microphone placement,
and I purchased a bass guitar online.
I also started tapping into a Dropbox folder with a
bout 30 four-minute drum sequences that
I had recorded with Jon Fishman over the last year.

For the previous few Phish albums (including Kasvot Vaxt and Sigma Oasis),
I had been experimenting with writing songs,
starting with drum beats that I had sung into my phone.
Fish and I would go into the studio and record the beats exactly as
I had sung them, with Fish launching off in his unique way after a minute or two.
I used these beats as building blocks to many of the songs on Lonely Trip,
and it explains how I could do a whole album in Rubber Jungle
with such good sounding drums. Thank you Fish!

The album was ultimately mixed by my friend Bryce Goggin,
and as always, Bryce’s mixes sound incredible. Thank you Bryce!

Lonely Trip was my message in a bottle during this time,
and I wish I knew how to properly thank all of you
in our community for listening and responding.
It meant so much to me. Thank you.

This album is dedicated to the heroism of our healthcare and essential workers.
